Terms & Travel Disclaimer

Read this before you plan anything around what's on this site.

Last updated: July 2026

North of Nine ("we," "us," "this site") publishes independent travel research and route guides about Northern Ontario. By using this site, you agree to the terms below. Read them, then verify anything time-sensitive before you actually get in the car.

1. This Is Independent Research, Not an Official Source

We are not a government agency, park authority, or licensed travel advisor. Content here is compiled from public data — Statistics Canada, Destination Ontario, provincial park sites, and third-party travel reporting — and reflects our own analysis and writing, not an official position of any of those organizations.

2. Information Changes — Verify Before You Go

Distances, road conditions, park hours, camping rules, fees, business listings, and aurora forecasts all change, sometimes with no notice. A number that was accurate when we published it may not be accurate the week you travel. Before any trip, confirm current conditions directly with:

  • Ontario Parks or the specific provincial/national park you're visiting, for hours, fees, and reservations.
  • Ontario's 511 service, for real-time road and highway conditions.
  • A live aurora forecast service, for same-day space-weather conditions — solar activity can shift within hours.
  • Individual lodges, camps, or outfitters, for current pricing, availability, and booking terms.

3. No Liability for Loss, Delay, or Injury

If something on this site turns out to be outdated, inaccurate, or simply wrong, that's on us — but we are not liable for any resulting loss. This includes, without limitation, travel delays, extra expenses, missed reservations, vehicle issues, injury, illness, or property damage connected in any way to relying on information published here. You are responsible for verifying details before you rely on them.

4. Outdoor and Remote Travel Carries Real Risk

Northern Ontario includes long stretches with no cell coverage, limited emergency services, unpredictable weather, and wildlife. Camping, hiking, and driving remote highways carry inherent risk that no article can fully account for. Travel prepared, travel within your own skill and fitness level, and use your own judgment over anything you read here.

5. Third-Party Links, Lodges, and Advertisers

This site links to and displays banners for third-party lodges, camps, and outfitters. These are provided as a courtesy or paid placement, not an endorsement of their safety, availability, pricing, or service quality. We are not responsible for the content of external sites, their booking terms, or your experience with them — deal with those businesses directly and read their own terms before booking.

6. Content Ownership

The text, design, and original photography on this site are owned by North of Nine unless otherwise credited. Third-party banners and linked logos belong to their respective owners.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

8. Contact

Questions about these terms can be directed to the site's editorial contact listed in the footer of this page.

Short version: this is a starting point for planning, not a substitute for checking official, current sources before you travel.
